What is the Mid-Autumn Festival?
The Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节, Zhōngqiūjié) falls on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese lunar calendar, when the full moon is at its brightest and roundest — in 2026 it lands in late September. Families gather to share mooncakes (月饼, yuèbǐng), carry glowing lanterns (灯笼, dēnglóng), and look at the moon together. The round moon stands for reunion and family (团圆, tuányuán), and a favorite children's image is the jade rabbit (玉兔, yùtù) said to live on the moon.
This pack is a gentle, parent-friendly way to share the festival with a child who is just beginning Mandarin — no fluent Chinese required.
Do I need to speak Chinese?
No. Every word has pinyin and English, and the parent instructions are in plain English.
When is Mid-Autumn 2026?
